Elective and emergency defibrillation.

Defibrillation is the only effective treatment in cardiac arrest for ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia. This article aims to identify the need for defibrillation, both elective and emergency, and assist the nurse in understanding the evidence related to effective defibrillation (Nolan et al 2006).
